What can i learn in this unit?
In this Unit you will learn about spontaneity and equilibrium and their relation to enthalpy, entropy, Gibbs free energy, chemical potential and fugacity. But first, what is spontaneity and equilibrium?
An sponatenous process is the one that is thermodynamically capable of happening without any external help, it means, you don´t need to apply any work, heat or any force for it to happen, it just does.
Equilibrium, on the other side, is a static process in which there is no external driving force and there is no tendency of change at all.

Syllabus:
1. Equilibrium and steady state
Did you know they were different? Find out why!
2. Enthalpy, entropy and Gibbs free energy
Here you can find the definitions, the relation between them and with equilibrium and spontaneity!
3. Chemical potential, fugacity and fugacity coefficient
Fact: Using methods based on chemical potential and fugacity scientists predict the behaviour of a substance in the environment! Find out what they are and how do they work!
4. Fugacity and fugacity coefficient calculations for gases and liquids
5. Challenge yourself!
